Letter from Bishop Walkowiak

Dear Parishioners,

The images of damage and flooding from Hurricane Harvey continue to grab our attention compelling us to help our brothers and sisters in Texas whose lives have been turned upside down by this devastating storm. While we must continue to offer prayers for those affected, our financial support is desperately needed as well. Therefore, I am asking you to take up a special second collection in your parishes this weekend to assist in relief efforts.

Funds given to the collection will support the humanitarian and recovery efforts of Catholic Charities USA and will provide pastoral and rebuilding support to impacted dioceses through the USCCB.

After your Masses this weekend please send a check, per the normal special collection procedure, with a note on the memo line titled “Hurricane Harvey collection” addressed to:

Finance Office

360 Division Ave. S.

Grand Rapids, MI 49503

In addition, parishioners may donate through Catholic Charities USA. More information on how to donate to help relief efforts can be found on the diocesan webpage here: http://www.dioceseofgrandrapids.org/multimedia/Pages/Hurricane_Harvey_Relief.aspx#.WaWG6sh96M8

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Bishop David Walkowiak
