In Holy Communion we receive Jesus Christ, who gives Himself to us in His body, blood, soul, and divinity. This intimate union with Christ both signifies and strengthens our union with Him and His Church.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because of the intimate connection of the Sacrament of Holy Communion to our life in Christ, we must be free of any grave or mortal sin before receiving it, as St. Paul explained in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.drbo.org\/x\/d?b=drb&amp;bk=53&amp;ch=11&amp;l=27#x\">1 Corinthians 11:27-29<\/a>.
