Baptism
“Baptism is the best gift we have received. Through it, we belong to God and we possess the joy of salvation.”
Pope Francis

“Go, therefore, make disciples of all nations; baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you” (Matthew 28:19-20).
The baptismal program at Assumption Parish supports parents and godparents preparing for an infant’s baptism, with other family members welcome to participate. The preparation focuses on three key aspects:
- Understanding Baptism (theological significance)
- Celebrating Baptism (liturgical dimension)
- Living Baptism (life-faith connection)
Baptism, the first Sacrament of Initiation, purifies us from sin, adopts us into God’s family, and leaves an indelible mark on our souls as His beloved children. It enables us to call God “Our Father” with conviction.
Expecting parents are encouraged to schedule their baby’s baptism as soon as possible. For children of the age of reason or older, baptism is offered through the Order of Christian Initiation (OCIA) program.
