Confirmation

“For I know well the plans I have in mind for you—oracle of the LORD—plans for your welfare and not for woe, so as to give you a future of hope.”

Jeremiah 29:11

The Sacrament of Confirmation together constitutes the “Sacraments of Christian Initiation,” whose unity must be safeguarded. It must be explained to the faithful that the reception of the sacrament of Confirmation is necessary for the completion of baptismal grace. For “by the sacrament of Confirmation, [the baptized] are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit. Hence they are, as true witnesses of Christ, more strictly obliged to spread and defend the faith by word and deed.” (Catechism #1285)

Young people, normally in the Eighth Grade, participate in a Confirmation preparation program and receive the Sacrament from the Bishop at the Cathedral in the Spring. Confirmation formation is being offered on Sunday evenings from 6:30-8:00 PM

The Pastor of our parish also confirms Catholic adults and those participating in the RCIA process during the Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday.
